His normal life allows for a window into the people's broader experiences apart from the mass immigration from Italy to America. Immigrants hoped to balance their traditional culture while facing new socio-economic challenges in industrial America.  This website follows D’Angelo’s journey from the mountains and pastoral landscapes of Introdracqua, Italy, to his promised new and grueling life in the labour of New York, United States. His life captures the resilience, tradition and determination of a community that helped build and shape American culture and history...."
